While arguments for the necessity and benefits of renewable energy and energy efficiency solutions are now in place, financing and confidence in their performance and associated financial paybacks remain two of the largest hurdles to widespread adoption. Though governments have intervened to provide large amounts of development and project financing, the balance of funds necessary to deploy these solutions will ultimately have to come from private sector sources. The ESCO financing model has the potential to hasten their deployment by enabling customers to more confidently invest based on an assured level of performance.
